Hi,

to fix bad sectors you can run "Check and Repair bad sectors"
or "Read and Repair bad sectors" in Device Level Tests Menu (version 4.5.3).

The tests in "File Level Tests Menu" are only informative
and usable only when you have problem to boot operating system.

Backup all of your data first. The drive will fail. Copy all the data that is important to you out of the drive.
If you have many bad sectors the drive must be re-certified (Self-Scan) and you can't do that with free software.
Best advice, buy a new drive.
If you want to re-use your bad drive you can try 0-fill or better issue the ATA secure erase procedure and hope for the best. Then check "S.M.A.R.T." for reallocation sectors count.
If you have errors on the partition table and you can't copy your files out you will need some logic recovery tools like r-studio or restorer ultimate or GetDataBack to figure out where the data is or extract it using file signatures (RAW).
Good luck.

One of my hard drives is failing - diagnostic tests came up with message error code 7. It's Dell and the warranty expired last month (why am I not surprised). Anyway, I've got two hard drives and one is working properly. My question is, can I separate the two and reinstall windows on just the one working disk? I don't want to spend money on a new disk plus the fee for the technician to come install it(this is the second time a disk has failed) for this computer and I don't really want to buy a new computer yet. I'd prefer not to have to open the case and manually removing the offending disk as I'm not very tech savvy at all and may do more damage but if that's the only way...
Or can anyone suggest something else?

Hi,

everything is possible...

You must set in BIOS the boot order for the second hard disk
or disable the failed primary disk
or just remove cable from this failed disk
or ...
