Hi,

If you put hdd in safe mode, the platers should not spin.

It's independent of PC Motherboard.
It's different from Drive Family to Drive Family.
You are asking about hard drive safe mode and you are needing ALT loader ? Don't think so ...
Are you trying to use Chinese/Fake PC-3000 or HRT ? If not, if your software/hardware is legit you should have a manual with detailed safe mode jumper positions and also firmware database. Also you can ask for help on the ACE forum (if you have a legal card, of course)....
Why do you need the C (Alt) loader ? If you are just beginning and learning and if you are in a stage that you don't even know what safe mode is and how to set it up (asking about pc motherboard influence led me to believe that) i don't think that you will need ALT SA loader for nothing ... unless you want to turn your drive in a brick and mess it up in a way that no one, nor even the best hard drive recovery firms can restore it to use ....
