How to remove gigabyte xpress recovery 2

Postby pektong on Tue Feb 24, 2009 6:07 pm

I need help. Gigabyte is taking years to answer on how to remove this utility on my HD. I have a gigabyte ma78gm-s2h motherboard and I accidentaly installed it in my HD. I tried to use HDAT2 using the restore command in DCO and also on the HPA setting to set the max address. But it's giving me an error to reboot or something. I tried to set both 24 and 48bit mode but it's still a no go. I was thinking if the bios of my mainboard locks HDAT2 so that HPA cannot be remove. should I try to run this again on another mainboard? Can this remove xpress recovery on my hard drive?

It could be BIOS issue to freeze SET MAX commands. Maybe any option in BIOS?
Yes, you can try to remove HPA on another PC, it should remove Xpress Recovery.
I don't know this Xpress Recovery, you don't have any option to uninstall when you start setup?

CBL is right. the BIOS include recovery program and it hide in your HDD, so I think you can use a BIOS tool to delete this function. but be carefull!
