Postby trubarevacki on Mon Jun 01, 2009 1:22 am

According this is a general discussion let me shift a little from the main theme of this forum...
So, i want to start self scan on calypso drive without PCIPC3k... I know how and what modules to clear, how to modify self script, but don’t know what to do with DISK module. It should be done something with head map, but don’t know what...
Maybe here somebody can help..
I know Spidlit know this...
Maybe someone else..
Thank’s.

What are you using to retrive the modules and write them back ?
Salvation ? HRT ? HDDRepair ?
You have to edit Selfscan script. You don't do anything with Head Map unless you want to Shut down damaged heads (like Seagate depop) and get "junior" drives (less capacity).
Clear S.M.A.R.T. and defects change SelfScan script and either run Selfscan from RAM or from the next power on, depending on the tool you have.
Read PC3K manual.

PC3K ISA have a later version than v14 .. you are using pirated one with emulator and that it's not nice....
You need to read the documentation of the *REAL* PC3K if you want to understant how to do it.

Yes, i use exactly that one..
Is it or is it not nice – that is the question for a long discussion... I think this is not the right place for such discussion... So, if you have a good will to help –thank you for that, if you do not – thank you again – it is on you now.. I did not ask any question about soft tools, i just ask a technical question about firmware modification which is not in any relation with tool that i use to read and write modules.
About suggestion to read the manual – of course i did that many times.. PC3k for Dos manual do not have eny explanation about self test, PCIPC3k have something, but it is about how to use the software, not about what is going under hub.. There is explained self test script, but nothing about what is actually event which start test. I do not know what is in manual for UDMA version.
So if you have a good will to help, just tell us, please, are you 100% sure that there is no need for manipulating DISK module?

Pc-3000 UDMA (and PCI) should come with an individual manual for each manufactor (Maxtor, Seagate, etc ...)
You will need to read that otherwise you will end up messing things up.
If you know about me, than you know the other foruns i attend and on one of those foruns you can find my own experiments with the drives, etc .... maybe you should check that because this his a forum about HDAT2 and not about PC-3000.
It's not very polite to be in the "house" of another tool and start to talk about a comercial product, and HIGH-END function related to DR.
I will PM you with the information that you need.

Done, i've sended you the PM.
Read carefully what module you have to edit and how.
Backup all the modules first.
And also your tool should be in russian language, so i hope you can read russian otherwise you will end up messing things up.

I agree about inappropriate place for a such discussion, and yes, i read your post on another forums, ofcourse... ..
To my happiness, you continue with your reputation "man of good will".... It is encouraging to know that, despite the fact that we live in the world of the deepest moral disorder, in the world where “mr. $” is same as God, still there are people who are willing to their deep understanding of a very complex matter which is the word here, in the spirit of the most noble ideas -- share with others.
I am sure that such ideas, sooner or later, will experience the full blossom everywhere in the world, and you give it, of course in the area in which you are expert, a large contribution.
I am the most honestly thank for that.
Wish you all the best!
