Seagate raw Seek Error Rate attribute

Postby fzabkar on Sat Oct 03, 2009 9:40 am

I have decoded the meaning of the raw value of Seagate's Seek Error Rate attribute and posted it to Wikipedia's discussion page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:S.M.A ... _attribute

The bottom 32 bits hold the total number of seeks, while the upper 16 bits hold the number of seek errors. The normalised value is logarithmic.
