HDAT Load failure

Postby tecmes on Fri Oct 09, 2009 11:15 pm

Hello,

I succesfully booted with the bootable CD from version 4.6.
Detection went well.

However, right after annoucing "installation of ASPI manager", it dumps me to the A: prompt, after failing to load command.com and annoucing "missing command interpreter".

Might it be due to an issue with the ASPI drivers, once they are loaded?

I am using an external USB IDE PATA CD-ROM on a laptop, with unknown chipset.

I tried booting from another CD unto DOS, the launching HDAT. It works, but then the USB drive I want to fix is recognized as SCSI and I can't do much. This is a capacity-limited 1.8" Toshiba drive in an iRiver mp3 player.

Is there something I can try in either case?

Thanks!

Hi,

used USBASPI driver is not universal and doesn't supports
every chipset.

Could you please write in more detail when it is failing
(during boot or when you start a program) and what is on the screen?

In boot menu when you press a key F8 you can confirm
every command by pressing Y.

Thanks for your reply. HEre's what I could gather. Is that what you meant?

Selected Option: Load all ASPI driver

HIMEM testing OK.
APSI2DOS and APSI4DOS seem to load OK.
The other ASPI Driver return "no drives found" or "adapter not present"
USBASPI seem to run well, detecting my USB CD-ROM drive.

The error pops up right after loading AUTOEXEC.BAT. Here's how it goes:
Code: Select all
Process AUTOEXEC.BAT? [Y,N]? Y
Bad or missing command inerpreter.

Bad or missing command inerpreter.
Enter correct name of Command Interpreter (eg, C:\COMMAND"COM)
A>

And stuck from there, cause no interpreter..

Hi,

I am sorry for delayed answer, but I was really too busy in office.

I tried yesterday to boot from CD (v4.7.1) with ASPI and USB drivers,
but without any errors.

It could be bad medium or RAM of PC.

Do you solved your problem in the meantime?
Try to boot from CD of the last version.
